“I have a strong passion for the agricultural industry and want to continue to advocate for the industry. I have always had a passion for the industry; it all started on my family farm,” said Haley, an Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leader Scholarship awardee. “I want to pursue a career in agriculture to utilize my passion and make an impact.”
Haley is from Steamboat Rock, Iowa, and her parents are Ryan and Lisa. She is currently attending Iowa State University pursing a degree in Agricultural Studies and hopes to find a career in either agronomy or the animal science industry upon graduation.
Her passion for agriculture started in high school when she got involved with FFA. Through FFA, she competed on her chapter’s soil judging team. The team made it to a national soil competition which inspired her to study agronomy further. Competing in soil judging took her outside her comfort zone, but as she reflects on the decision now, it was worth it.
“You can’t let the fear of making a mistake keep you from chasing your dreams and trying something new. Making a mistake is how you learn, and learning is how you are able to make a difference and an impact,” said Haley.
We wish you all the best in the future Haley. Thank you for being an advocate for our great industry!
