Congratulations to Abby Dunn on your Iowa Select Farms Future Ag Leader Scholarship!
Abby is a 2014 graduate of the Riceville Community School District and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Allen College in Waterloo.
“My Aunt is an Allen College graduate who has been an RN at the Mayo Clinic for more than 20 years,” said Abby. “I’ve always looked up to her and after observing her help patients get back on their feet after surgery in a caring manner during a job shadow experience, I knew I wanted to become a nurse.”
Abby is the daughter of Tom and Kari Dunn of Elma and a part-time employee for Iowa Select Farms. “When I am not in school, I help a lot,” she explained. “I mow around 12 farms in the summer, push snow, move feed and sand driveways. I also helped in Riceville and Elma when Iowa Select Farms and the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation created the CommunityCare grant program.”
Abby cites the “great care employees receive” for making it a great place to work. “We have been lucky enough to go to Adventureland, the Iowa State Fair, and several concerts. Iowa Select Farms not only treats their employees well, but also the communities where their employees work and live.”
