“I always make sure families know I am here for them,” said Jamie, a day care provider in Algona. “No matter for 20 minutes or for 12 hours, I am here to help.”
We kicked off the fifth day of Little Farmer Toy Box deliveries with a stop at Jamie’s beautiful farmhouse in Algona. She flawlessly helped the kiddos as we began to open and play with all the toys in the Little Farmer Toy Box.
“She is an amazing person and friend, and I just cannot thank her enough for the care and love she has for my boys,” said Sheila, an employee of Iowa Select Farms. “Her help and flexibility have allowed me to continue to pursue my career, and I couldn’t do it without her.
As we hung out with Jamie we observed the daily routine. Kids were picked up, others dropped off. A few got on a school bus, and some laid down for a nap. Some needed a snack, others needed a hug. No matter what the need was, they went to Jamie, and that just shows how important Jamie is to these kids.
“Our in-home day cares are a vital part of our communities, but our day care providers are really everything to us,” said Ali Kraber, a representative of the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation. They are indeed extensions of our families, spending many hours guiding, teaching and mentoring our little ones.”
