psNow in its seventh year, Power Snack supports 22,751 students identified by their schools as food-insecure. The Program reaches 125 schools across Iowa and provides coupon booklets containing a $5 coupon for a pound of ham and $3 coupon for a loaf of whole wheat or whole grain bread.

“As farmers and pork producers, we’re passionate about assisting hunger-relief efforts, particularly those directed towards children,” said Allyson Ladd, Communications Specialist at Iowa Select Farms. “Oftentimes, parents are working on weekends and holidays and something simple like a ham sandwich may be the difference in preventing kids from going hungry.”
